Final Piece

my final outcome has developed through my experimentation with testing the effects of different substances in the environment on photographs and film. The most influential artist through my work was Letha Wilson which is where the concertina have came from which I developed and wanted to involve two photos in to one which I alternated in strips. The photographs I used are taken using an analogue camera and I used a range of household items to effect the film the first piece I used bleach giving red, yellow streaks and intensifying the colours in the photo then lemon juice on the other giving a green tinge all over. The second piece I burnt the film which created the white patches and brown splatters over it and also changing the colours of the film and making them more blue and dramatic. This links with the environment as I've used common household items that are man made which gave harsh effects when exposed to developed film showing the effects we can impact on the planet. Further more, to see the full photograph with the effect I've created, you must move yourself in your environment to enable them to link up.

Film Experiments

I wanted to experiment with chemicals such as bleach, nail varnish remover, vinegars, lemons and other citrus fruits, baking sodas and boiling film to see the variety of effects then scan and edit further to give high contrast pieces with a a range of levels and colours.

Jennifer West images with film
She has created these pieces through processing her films using products such as coal-tar, dye, whiskey, urine, deodorant, and hot sauce. Then finishing these pieces by rubbing, dripping or splattering with nail polish or sprayed with air freshener, as she enjoys the more traditional side of film-making and painting then the way they are out of focus represents a half-second of moving film.

Final Image

This is my final shot Ive chosen and edited by playing with the levels and contrast to give her dreamy and dull effect on her photos  with minimal detail in the sky adding empty space to the photo. Then   I have made it square to reflect her photos further I couldn't get such a clean focused shot on the landscape below as I think the shot is too vast and needs to closer slightly. Then the colours also aren't as similar to hers which are more pastel and washed out reflected a calm mood which is why I used water to convey this.

Plaster and Landscape Photos Experiments

Overall I like the effect this gave by the way it discolours areas of the photo and effecting the inks giving  bleeding effect. I also like how certain sections are hidden and others not then the texture   created with drips plaster, then the way it blends with the texture of the natural rocks and textures in the landscape.

Artist Emulation- inspired by Hans Christian Schink

I used his idea of placing man made structures into a natural and isolated areas which I found worked really effectively and created the impact of how destructive humans can be on natural habitats. I also like how the structure creates a sense of depth to the photo with the way it naturally curves into the distance which gives the idea its actually in the photo and I haven't actually placed it there using photoshop. The shadows from the sun work well on different areas off the environment and the bridge like structure  making it look for 3D and lifelike.

Artist Emulation- Letha Wilson

I have taken inspiration from her work and taken my own natural photos in my environment these were taken around Grinshill in particular, I then printed them on card and tore away sections and folded them into concertina folds then laid them some overlapping in the style she used in some of her pieces. I like the rough edges the the photos giving a natural feel and also the different angles the photos are taken giving contrast and the way they morph in the different level giving a range of depths.

Experiments with materials from my environment with a digital camera

Materials I will use:
White plastic bag placed above the flash to give a soft look
CD shiny side tilted towards lens to give a sense flare effect
A Burning match stick give a film burning affect
